Yu extended welcome to the visit of the ambassador and congratulated for the opening of the Trinidad and Tobago Embassy in China and his taking office.
Yu said this year marks the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and bilateral economic cooperation has been developing smoothly since then. As China’s largest trade promotion agency, the CCPIT is committed to promoting China 's economic ties with Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Bisaisaer’s visit to China in February and attendance at China-Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum were great success.
Yu welcomed Trinidad and Tobago and other Caribbean countries to participate in the 8th China-Latin America Business Summit to be held in Changsha, Hunan. He said the CCPIT will strengthen ties with the embassy to help business circles on both sides in bilateral cooperation and promote development of bilateral economic ties.
The ambassador thanked the CCPIT for its great support during the Prime Minister’s visit. He said as an economic center of the Caribbean region, Trinidad and Tobago is rich in mineral and port resources and has a long history of trade with China. In addition to natural bitumen, liquefied petroleum gas and other products, Trinidad and Tobago is looking forward to promoting cooperation with China in audio-visual products, fashion design and other creative industries. The embassy hopes to strengthen exchanges between the bilateral business sectors with the help of the CCPIT and promote development of bilateral economic ties.
